Renaissance Crowdfunding

It was about this time, 9 years ago, that two ex-pats from Southern California decided it would be a good idea to start a craft brewery in Marlborough, New Zealand.  With limited market demand and a low amount of consumer interest, it seemed like a good idea at the time.  To paraphrase one of those founders – “so you want to start a craft brewery, put the crack pipe down!”

“so you want to start a craft brewery?”

Cut forward almost a decade and the stories associated with these first years in business for Renaissance Brewing would make painful and delightful consumption in equal measure.  A sugar coated, crushed glass donut of sorts.

But……Renaissance has made it through the first 9 years in one piece and how the landscape for beer in New Zealand has changed. We are proud to have been a small part in pioneering this change.  In fact, things have changed so much that we had the shock of having to pay tax on a profit for the first time ever this year!  The government just weren’t satisfied with the 15% in GST and the 20% in excise tax we pay.

The last 6 months have seen a restructure of sorts at Renaissance with an injection of new blood as new shareholders have come on board. With this has come the establishment of a board of directors and a new management structure that will make it possible for Renaissance to grow its business successfully in the years to come.

2013 saw two tremendous awards for the brewery and 4 new export markets developed, with a number of other markets and opportunities in the pipeline, the next few years will be exciting for us all here at Renaissance – we also have some very interesting beers in the pipeline, none more so than a Brandy Barrel Aged version of Craftsman Chocolate Stout that is getting very close to being ready to go into bottle.

On the back of this success, the board is currently working with Snowball Effect with the intention of raising funds, by way of crowdfunding to enable Renaissance to take advantage of opportunities it is presented with. If you would like to receive more information, click here to sign up, and we will send it out to you as soon as the Snowball platform is licensed and our offer launches.

We need to be a bit careful what we say here, as there are rules governing this kind of thing and we don’t want to have to contribute any more cash to government coffers in the way of fines!  As soon as Snowball Effect is licensed we will send you more information.
